FLUKE 189 Handheld Digital Multimeter

The Fluke 189 is a handheld digital multimeter capable of many functions, including DC/AC voltage and current, resistance, capacitance, frequency, temperature, conductance and dBm and dBV. DC volts accuracy: +/-(0.025%+5) with a maximum resolution of 1 micro-volt and a maximum reading of 1000 V. AC voltage accuracy: +/-(0.4%+40) with a maximum resolution of 1 micro-volt and a maximum reading of 1000 V. DC current accuracy: +/-(0.15%+2) with a maximum resolution of 0.01 micro-amperes and a maximum reading of 10 A. AC current accuracy: +/-(0.75%+5) with a maximum resolution of 0.01 micro-amps and a maximum reading of 10 A. Reistance accuracy: +/-(0.05%+2) with a max resolution of 0.01 ohms and a maximum reading of 500 mega-ohms. Capacitance accuracy: +/-(1.0%+5) with a maximum resolution of 1 pF and a max reading of 50,000 micro-farads. Frequency accuracy: +/-(0.005%+1) with a max resolution of 0.01 Hz and a max reading of 1 MHz. Temperature accuracy: +/-(1.0%+1 degree C) with a max resolution of 0.1 degree, with measurement ranging from -200 to 1350 degrees. Conductance accuracy: +/-(1%+10) with a max resolution of 0.01 nS and a max reading of 500 nS. dBm and dBV accuracy: +/-0.1 dB with a max resolution of 0.01 dB and a maximum range of -52 to 60 dB. Battery life: ~72 hours without backlight. In addition to all features of the model 187, model 189 includes internal memory that can store up to 1000 measurements and a readings memory for storing up to 100 readings.

Linearity
Linearity is the relative difference between the displayed power ratio, Dx/D0, and the actual (true) power ratio Px/P0 caused by changing the displayed power level from the reference level, D0, to an arbitrary displayed level, Dx.

Phase Noise
Phase noise is the frequency domain representation of rapid, short-term, random fluctuations in the phase of a waveform, caused by time domain instabilities. Phase noise (L(f)) is typically expressed in units of dBc/Hz, representing the noise power relative to the carrier contained in a 1 Hz bandwidth centered at a certain offsets from the carrier.

Sensitivity
Sensitivity is the minimum magnitude of input signal required to produce a specified output signal having a specified signal-to-noise ratio, or other specified criteria.
