Keysight (Agilent) R8486D 40 GHz Diode Waveguide Power Sensor

The Agilent R8486D diode waveguide power sensor measures average power over the frequency range 26.5 GHz to 40 GHz and power range -70 to -20 dBm (50 dB dynamic range). It is compatible with EPM (new N1913A/ 14A, E4418B/ 19B), EPM-P (E4416A/ 17A) and P-series (N1911A/ 12A) power meters, plus the E1416A VXI and discontinued 70100A and 43X power meter. Specifications. Frequency Range: 26.5 GHz to 40 GHz. Power Range: 100 pW to 10 µW (–70 dBm to –20 dBm). Maximum SWR 26.5 GHz to 40 GHz: 1.40. Power Linearity: ±3% (–30 dBm to –25 dBm), ±5% (–25 dBm to –20 dBm). Maximum Power: 100 mW avg, or pk 40 V dc max. Connector Type: Waveguide flange UG-599/U.

Averaging
Averaging is a mathematical process to reduce the variation in a measurement by summing the data points from multiple measurements and dividing by the number of points summed.

Jitter
Jitter in technical terms is the deviation in or displacement of some aspect of the pulses in a high-frequency digital signal. Jitter is the time variation of a periodic signal in electronics and telecommunications, often in relation to a reference clock source. Jitter may be observed in characteristics such as the frequency of successive pulses, the signal amplitude, or phase of periodic signals. Jitter is a significant, and usually undesired, factor in the design of almost all communications links (e.g., USB, PCI-e, SATA, OC-48). In clock recovery applications it is called timing jitter.

Pulse Power
Pulse Power, the energy transfer rate is averaged over the pulse width. Pulse width is considered to be the time between the 50 percent risetime/falltime amplitude points. Pulse power averages out any aberrations in the pulse envelope such as overshoot or ringing.
