Keysight (Agilent) 8663A   Description / Specification:
Keysight (Agilent) 8663A 2560 MHz Synthesized Signal Generator

The HP 8663A derives exceptional RF performance from an indirect frequency synthesis technique that results in frequency resolution of 0.1 Hz from 10kHz to 640 MHz, 0.2 Hz from 640 MHz to 1280 MHz and 0.4 Hz above 1280 MHz. Output level accuracy is held to ± 1 dB using microprocessor correction. This makes the HP 8663A an ideal generator for performing precise receiver sensitivity tests either manually or in automated systems. The HP 8663A offers versatile phase-locked AM/FM using either internal 400 Hz and I kHz rates or externally applied modulating signals, which can be either dc or ac coupled. Several different modes of simultaneous modulation (such as AM + FM or FM + FM) are possible. Fast frequency switching combined with microprocessor control gives the HP 8663A a powerful sweep capability. Automatic, single, and manual modes are available for both linear and logarithmic sweeps with user-selectable step size and number of steps. Specifications. Frequency Range: 100 kHz to 2560 MHz (2559.9999996 MHz). Resolution: 0.1 Hz (fc < 640 MHz), 0.2 Hz (640 MHz <= fc < 1280 MHz), 0.4 Hz (fc >=1280 MHz) . Output Level range: +16 dBm to -129.9 dBm, AM/FM, Pulse, optional Phase modulation, Typical absolute phase noise performance at a 1 kHz offset is as low as -135 dBc/Hz. Opt 001 RF connectors on rear panel only. Opt 002 Wideband linear phase modulation. Opt 003 Specified SSB phase noise for 640 MHz output. Opt 700 External MATE translator.

Crest Factor
Crest factor or peak-to-average ratio (PAR) is a measurement of a waveform, calculated from the peak amplitude of the waveform divided by the RMS value of the waveform

Linearity
Linearity is the relative difference between the displayed power ratio, Dx/D0, and the actual (true) power ratio Px/P0 caused by changing the displayed power level from the reference level, D0, to an arbitrary displayed level, Dx.

Phase Noise
Phase noise is the frequency domain representation of rapid, short-term, random fluctuations in the phase of a waveform, caused by time domain instabilities. Phase noise (L(f)) is typically expressed in units of dBc/Hz, representing the noise power relative to the carrier contained in a 1 Hz bandwidth centered at a certain offsets from the carrier.

Sensitivity
Sensitivity is the minimum magnitude of input signal required to produce a specified output signal having a specified signal-to-noise ratio, or other specified criteria.
