   TEKTRONIX FG501A   Description / Specification:
TEKTRONIX FG501A Function Generator Plug-In

The Tektronix FG 501A provides low-distortion outputs from 0.002 Hz to 2 MHz. It is capable of generating five basic waveforms-sine, square, triangle, ramp, and pulse-at output levels up to 30 V peak-to-peak with up to ± 13 V of offset from a 50-ohm source. Waveform triggering and gating are provided with a variable phase control to permit up to ±90 degrees of phase shift for generating haver-sines, sin pulses, and haver triangles. A step attenuator provides 60 dB of output signal attenuation in 20-dB steps with an additional 20 dB of variable attenuation. Variable symmetry from 5% to 95% provides ramps and pulses. Pulse rise time is <= 25 ns. Audio sine-wave distortion is <= 0.25% and audio amplitude flatness is within 0.1 dB. Frequency Range with var. symmetry: 0.002 to 2 MHz 200 kHz ±10%. Dial Accuracy % of full scale: <=3. Amplitude open circuit: 30 Vpp. Attenuator in 20-dB steps: 0 to -60 dB. Offset open circuit: ±13 V dc. Peak Signal + Offset open circuit: ±15 V dc. Output Impedance: 50 ohms. Amplitude Flatness 10-kHz ref, 50-ohm load): Sine ±0.1 dB, 20 Hz to 20 kHz; ±0.5 dB, 20 kHz to 1 MHz, ±1 dB, 1 MHz to 2 MHz; Triangle ±0.5 dB, 20 Hz to 200 kHz; ±2 dB, 200 kHz to 2 MHz; Square ±5 dB 20 Hz to 2 MHz. Square-Wave Response: <= 2-ns rise/fall; <=3% p-p aberrations.

*This is a Web introductory price for one calibration of the TEKTRONIX FG501A. Price does not in most cases include measurement performance data. Pricing does include NIST traceable calibration and issue of a calibration certificate and calibration label. Pricing may vary slightly due to volume and location of laboratory supporting calibration. Volume pricing may apply. On-site fees may apply depending on logistics, location and volume of work to be completed during the visit.

Averaging
Averaging is a mathematical process to reduce the variation in a measurement by summing the data points from multiple measurements and dividing by the number of points summed.

Fall Time
Fall time is the time required for the amplitude of a pulse to decrease (fall) from a specified value (usually 90 percent of the peak value exclusive of overshoot or undershoot) to another specified value (usually 10 percent of the maximum value exclusive of overshoot or undershoot).

Noise Density
Noise Density is the amount of noise within a defined bandwidth, usually normalized to 1 Hz.

Resolution Bandwidth (RBW)
Resolution Bandwidth (RBW) is the minimum bandwidth over which you can separate two signals and still see them.
