   TEKTRONIX OF150   Description / Specification:
TEKTRONIX OF150 850 nm Fiber Optic TDR

The Tektronix OF150 Fiber Optic TDR is high-performance and easy-to-use. It precisely measures signal loss and breaks on multimode fiber at the 850 nm wavelength. The instrument typically measures reflective breaks through 42.5 dB, and splice loss to ±0.1 dB through 21.5 dB of one-way cable loss, depending on fiber characteristics. Maximum read-out range is 19.9 km, with 1 meter resolution. Data point resolution is 2 cm. Characteristics. Wavelength: 850 nm (±20 nm) (typical). Displayed Pulse Width LONG pulse: 5.5 meters, ±1 meter. Displayed Pulse Width SHORT pulse: 1.5 meters, ±0.3 meter. System Pulse Rate: 4.650 kHz, ±5 Hz. Optical Output Amplitude: >= 25 uW Time-average power coupled into test fiber (50 um core, 0.20 NA) (LONG PULSE mode, slow average). Absolute maximum optical output; Amplitude: 70 uW averaged over time. Displayed Pulse Risetime: <0.7 meters from -20 dB point to -6 dB point. Measurement range; Filtering: Decrease in RMS noise floor. MEDIUM filter: 7.5 dB nominal. SLOW filter: 15 dB nominal. Optical Input Sensitivity: <= 0.40 uW input for 30 dB above displayed RMS noise floor. Dynamic Range: (One Way) 29 dB (Scattering Signal measurements, SNR=1); 42.5 dB (Fiber End Detection assuming 4% Fresnel reflection ). Options. Opt. 01 - XY1 Output Module. Opt. 04 - Chart Recorder.

Pricing does include NIST traceable calibration and issue of a calibration certificate and calibration label. Pricing may vary slightly due to volume and location of laboratory supporting calibration. Volume pricing may apply. On-site fees may apply depending on logistics, location and volume of work to be completed during the visit.

Related Optical Terms and Definitions. For a complete list go to our  Terms and Definitions Page.

Chirp
A change in the optical frequency caused by direct modulation of the laser. A chirp is a signal in which the frequency increases ('up-chirp') or decreases ('down-chirp') with time. In some sources, the term chirp is used interchangeably with sweep signal.

Isolation
The extent to which optical power from one signal path is prevented from reaching another signal path.

Polarization Extinction Ratio
Polarization Extinction Ratio is the ratio of optical power in the slow axis of the polarization maintaining fiber to optical power in the fast axis within a specified wavelength range.

Sidemode Suppression Ratio
Sidemode Suppression Ratio is the ratio of average signal power to the optical power of the highest sidemode within a distance from 0.1 to 6 GHz to the signal’s optical frequency, expressed in dB.

Wavelength Stability
Wavelength Stability is the change of wavelength during given time span, expressed as ± half the span between the maximum and the minimum of all actual wavelengths.
