   ADVANTEST TR5823H   Description / Specification:
ADVANTEST TR5823H Universal Counter

The Advantest TR5823H is a universal counter capable of measuring frequencies from 1 mHz to 1300 MHz. The TR5823H can measure periods from 20 ns to 1000 s and can make time interval measurements from 200 ns to 1000 s. Frequency ratio and totalization measurements can also be done from DC to 50MHz. For frequencies between 1 mHz and 50 MHz (INPUT B), the TR5823H uses the reciprocal method to find the frequency by measuring the period of the input frequency and then taking the reciprocal with the internal microprocessor to calculate the frequency. From 10 Hz to 120 MHz (INPUT A), the TR5823H uses the direct measurement method. The TR5823H uses the prescale method between 100 MHz and 1300 MHz (INPUT C). Due to these various methods of measurement, accurate measurement of frequencies from low to high can be obtained from a single unit. The TR5823H also features a Masking Function, Autotrigger Function and can perform a self-check. When used with the TR1644, the TR5823H can do calculations on the measured results. The TR5823H comes with either built-in GPIB or BCD output. These features allow for system upgrading or automatic recording of measured results. The TR5823H is provided with the high-stability oscillator as a standard feature.

dBm
dBm (sometimes dBmW) is an abbreviation for the power ratio in decibels (dB) of the measured power referenced to one milliwatt (mW). Zero dBm equals one milliwatt. A 3 dB increase represents roughly doubling the power, a 3 dB decrease, the power is reduced by about one half.

Millimeter-wave
Millimeter-wave is a term that generally refers to frequencies of 26.5 GHz and above. That is where signal wavelengths fall below approximately 10 mm, and thus the terminology changes from centimeters to millimeters.

Power Repeatability
Power Repeatability is the random uncertainty in reproducing the power level after changing and re-setting the power level. The power repeatability is ± half the span (in dB) between the highest and lowest actual power. Note: - The long-term power repeatability can be obtained by taken the power repeatability and power stability into account.

Stability
Stability is the extent to which a specified property, characteristic, or parameter of a substance, device, or apparatus, remains fixed with the passage of time or with varying environmental conditions.
