   ANRITSU MS2723B   Description / Specification:
ANRITSU MS2723B 13 GHz Handheld Spectrum / Base Station Analyzer

The Anritsu MS2723B 13 GHz Handheld Spectrum Analyzer / Base Station Analyzer has very wide dynamic range, allowing measurement of very small signals in the presence of much larger signals. These pictures show a measurement of a –114 dBm signal with and without the presence of a –22 dBm signal only 20 kHz away. The input attenuation value can be tied to the reference level, reducing the number of parameters a field technician may have to set. The RBW/VBW and the span/RBW ratios can be set to values that are best for the measurements being made, further easing the technician’s burden and reducing the chances of errors. Over 1000 traces with names up to 40 characters long may be saved in the 256 MB non-volatile compact flash memory. These traces can later be copied into a PC using the built-in USB 2.0 connector or the 10/100 Mbit Ethernet connection. Measurements may also be saved directly to Compact Flash or USB Flash Drive. Specifications. Spectrum/Interference Analyzer Frequency Range: 9 kHz to 13 GHz. Tuning Resolution: 1 Hz. 1 Hz to 3 MHz RBW Range. Average Power
Average power means that the energy transfer rate is to be averaged over many periods of the lowest frequency involved. For a CW signal, the lowest frequency and highest frequency are the same, so average power and power are the same. For an amplitude modulated wave, the power must be averaged over many periods of the modulation component of the signal as well.

Harmonic
A harmonic of a wave is a component frequency of the signal that is an integer multiple of the fundamental frequency, i.e. if the fundamental frequency is f, the harmonics have frequencies 2f, 3f, 4f, . . . etc.

Phase Noise
Phase noise is the frequency domain representation of rapid, short-term, random fluctuations in the phase of a waveform, caused by time domain instabilities. Phase noise (L(f)) is typically expressed in units of dBc/Hz, representing the noise power relative to the carrier contained in a 1 Hz bandwidth centered at a certain offsets from the carrier.
