OPTOTEST OP930-SM SM Insertion /Return Loss Meter

The OptoTest OP930-SM Insertion /Return Loss Meter measures IL and RL on fiber optical components fast and accurately. The return loss is measured with the "no mandrel" method, meaning neither matching gel nor mandrel wraps are required at the far end of the cable. The insertion loss is measured by utilizing the stable laser source of the return-loss in combination with the precision optical power meter. Features. Insertion Loss (IL) and Return Loss (RL) measurement on single mode fibers & cables. Fully automated, concurrent dual wavelength IL and RL. Displays both readings, IL and RL, at the same time. Mandrel free RL measurement, IEC/TIA approved RECM method. Approved to qualify all singlemode cables. USB Interface to custom applications or OPL_Pro, the comprehensive cable testing system. Various detector options, with interfaces to multifiber and multi-ferrule connectors. Specifications. Optical Power Meter; Measurement Range: +10 dBm to -80 dBm. Wavelength Range: 830 nm to 1700 nm (InGaAs Detector). Selectable Wavelength: 850/ 1310/ 1550/ 1625 nm. Measurement Resolution: 0.01 dBm (absolute), 0.001 dB(relative). Measurement Resolution (Display): 0.001 dBm/dB. Measurement Linearity, Relative Accuracy: 0.05 dB. Return Loss ; Source Wavelength: 1310 nm, 1550 nm or both. Measurement Range: 10 dB to 80 dB. Absolute Accuracy: 0. 5dB <72 dB. Resolution: 0.1 dB. Distance Range: 2.5 m to 2500 m. Source for Insertion Loss; Source Wavelength: 1310 nm +/- 20 nm, 1550 nm +/-20 nm. Output Power: -3 dBm (into SM). Power Stability: +/-0.05 dB (12hrs).

Standard Calibration $415.00 *
*This is a Web introductory price for one calibration of the OPTOTEST OP930-SM. Price does not in most cases include measurement performance data. Pricing does include NIST traceable calibration and issue of a calibration certificate and calibration label. Pricing may vary slightly due to volume and location of laboratory supporting calibration. Volume pricing may apply. On-site fees may apply depending on logistics, location and volume of work to be completed during the visit.

Coherence Length
Average distance over which superimposed waves lose their phase relationships

Linewidth
Linewidth is the width of a spectral line in terms of wavelength, wave number and frequency.

Power Flatness Versus Wavelength
When changing the wavelength at constant power setting and recording the differences between actual and displayed power levels, the power flatness is ± half the span (in dB) between the maximum and the minimum of the measured power levels.

Spectral Width
Spectral Width is the wavelength interval over which the magnitude of all spectral components is equal to or greater than a specified fraction of the magnitude of the component having the maximum value. In optical communications applications, the usual method of specifying spectral width is the full width at half maximum. This is the same convention used in bandwidth, defined as the frequency range where power drops by less than half (at most -3 dB).

Telecom Bands
Optical fiber communications typically operate in a wavelength region corresponding to one of the following Bands. O Band (original): 1260–1360 nm. E Band (extended): 1360–1460 nm. S Band (short wavelengths): 1460–1530 nm. C Band (conventional): 1530–1565 nm. L Band (long wavelengths): 1565–1625 nm. U Band (ultralong wavelengths): 1625–1675 nm
