 Torque Wrench

A torque wrench is used where the tightness of screws and bolts is crucial. A torque wrench allows an operator to measure the torque applied to a fastener so that he or she can appropriately tighten the fastener. Applying the correct torque to the fasteners in an assembly assures that all of the parts have the proper tension and load. There are several different types of torque wrenches, including click wrenches, beam wrenches, and electronic wrenches. Generally, the simpler the mechanism, the less frequently it needs to be calibrated.

Standard Calibration $105.00 *
*This is a Web introductory price for one calibration of the Torque Wrench. Price does not in most cases include measurement performance data. Pricing does include NIST traceable calibration and issue of a calibration certificate and calibration label. Pricing may vary slightly due to volume and location of laboratory supporting calibration. Volume pricing may apply. On-site fees may apply depending on logistics, location and volume of work to be completed during the visit.

Beam Type
Beam type is the simplest form of torque wrench consists of a long lever arm between the handle and the wrench head, made of a material which bends elastically in response to applied torque. The deflection at the handle is proportional to the applied torque and material constants of the cantilever arm.

Lever
A lever is a machine consisting of a beam or rigid rod pivoted at a fixed hinge, or fulcrum. A lever amplifies an input force to provide a greater output force, which is said to provide leverage. The ratio of the output force to the input force is theideal mechanical advantage of the lever.

Strain Gauge
A strain gauge is a device used to measure strain on an object. The most common type of strain gauge consists of an insulating flexible backing which supports a metallic foil pattern. The gauge is attached to the object by a suitable adhesive, such as cyanoacrylate. As the object is deformed, the foil is deformed, causing its electrical resistance to change.
