ACTERNA OLP-16C 800 to 1700 nm Handheld Optical Power Meter

The Acterna OLP-16C is a compact, high performance optical power meter for installation, maintenance and repair in fiber optic networks. It can be used on their own for simple system power measurements, or with a light source for insertion loss measurements. Absolute power level can be stored with a single keystroke, making it easy to take relative loss test measurements. High performance OLPs can be used to detect the modulation frequency of the fiber to be measured, for identification purposes. To speed this process, an audible signal identifying the fiber as one of four standard frequencies sounds as soon as the fiber is brought near the input. Specifications. Wavelength range: 800 to 1700 nm. Photodiode: InGaAs. Fiber type: 9/125 to 50/125 mm. Standard wavelengths, switchable: 850, 1300, 1310, 1480, 1510, 1550, 1625 nm. Display range: - 80 to +15 dBm. Multimode Fiber
Multimode Fiber has a large core (almost always 62.5 microns - a micron is one one millionth of a meter - but sometimes 50 microns) and is used with LED sources at wavelengths of 850 and 1300 nm for short distance, lower speed networks like LANs. Both multimode and singlemode fiber have an outside diameter of 125 microns - about 5 thousandths of an inch - just slightly larger than a human hair.

Power Repeatability
Power Repeatability is the random uncertainty in reproducing the power level after changing and re-setting the power level. The power repeatability is ± half the span (in dB) between the highest and lowest actual power. Note: - The long-term power repeatability can be obtained by taken the power repeatability and power stability into account.
