Keysight (Agilent) N5106A PXB Baseband Generator and Channel Emulator

The Agilent N5106A PXB Baseband Generator and Channel Emulator supports multiple functions, future technologies, frequent use and easy upgrades. You can leverage one multipurpose diagnostic toolset across the R&D lifecycle: design, integration, verification and pre-conformance. The N5106A PXB lets you model the signal-propagation environment with fully parameterized real-time channel emulation (fading). With the largest playback memory available, you can run longer test sequences to better approximate real-world signals. You can also capture signals up to 512 Msa from your own device for post-processing. Up to 160 MHz modulation and signal capture bandwidth. Up to 6 BBGs and 16 faders for interference, diversity and MIMO test. Characteristics. Number of baseband generators: Up to 6. PXB Analog I/Q outputs: 160 MHz. Arbitrary waveform memory: 512 Msa (2 GB) per baseband generator. Sample rate: 1 kSa/sec to 150 MSa/sec. Resolution: 14 bits. Baseband frequency offset range: –80 MHz to 80 MHz. Waveform length: 256 samples to 512 Msa. Number of Digital I/O ports: 2 per I/O card, up to 8 total. Resolution: 14 bits. Baseband frequency offset: –80 MHz to 80 MHz. Analog Output Port type: Analog I/Q, single-ended and differential. Level: 1.0 Vpp single-ended, 2.0 Vpp differential; 50 ohm. Resolution: 14 bits. Baseband frequency offset: –80 MHz to 80 MHz. Available chassis slots: Up to 6 baseband cards (or 12 DSP blocks) and up to 4 I/O cards. Connectivity: Gigabit LAN, IEEE 488 GPIB. Option Bundles. 2B2 - 2x2 MIMO bundle. 2B4 - 2x4 MIMO bundle. 4B2 - 4x2 MIMO bundle. 185 - Global navigation satellite system application bundle. 186 - Digital video application bundle.

Channel Bandwidth
Channel Bandwidth is the bandwidth over which power is measured. This is usually the bandwidth in which almost all of the power of a signal is contained.

Jitter
Jitter in technical terms is the deviation in or displacement of some aspect of the pulses in a high-frequency digital signal. Jitter is the time variation of a periodic signal in electronics and telecommunications, often in relation to a reference clock source. Jitter may be observed in characteristics such as the frequency of successive pulses, the signal amplitude, or phase of periodic signals. Jitter is a significant, and usually undesired, factor in the design of almost all communications links (e.g., USB, PCI-e, SATA, OC-48). In clock recovery applications it is called timing jitter.

Overshoot
Overshoot is the distortion that follows a major transition; the difference between the peak power point and the pulse-top amplitude computed as a percentage of the pulse-top amplitude.

Rise Time
Rise time refers to the time required for a signal to change from a specified low value to a specified high value, usually 10 and 90 percent of pulse-top amplitude (vertical display is linear power).
