   FLUKE DSP-4100 (DSP4100)   Description / Specification:
FLUKE DSP-4100 LAN CableAnalyzer

The Fluke DSP-4100 LAN CableAnalyzer is a hand-held instruments used to certify, test, and troubleshoot coaxial and twisted pair cable in local area network (LAN) installations. The test tool combines test pulses with digital signal processing to provide fast, accurate results and advanced testing capabilities up to 350 MHz. It certifies LAN basic link and channel configurations to IEEE, ANSI, TIA, and ISO/IEC standards. The DSP-4100 stores at least 250 grapical test reports on a removeable memory card. It produces plots of NEXT, ELFEXT, PSNEXT, PSELFEXT, attenuation, ACR, PSACR, and RL. Shows NEXT, ELFEXT, PSNEXT, PSELFEXT, attenuation, ACR, and PSACR results up to 350 MHz. Gives remote results for NEXT, PSNEXT, ACR, and RL. Specifications. Range Twisted Pair Cable: 0 ft to 328 ft, 328 ft to 2500 ft. Resolution Twisted Pair Cable: 1 ft or 0.1 m. Accuracy Twisted Pair Cable: ± (1 ft (0.3 m) + 2 % of reading) (0 ft to 328 ft), ± (1 ft (0.3 m) + 4 % of reading) (328 ft to 2500 ft). Range Coaxial Cable: 0 ft to 328 ft, 328 ft to 4000 ft. Resolution Coaxial Cable: 1 ft or 0.1 m. Accuracy Coaxial Cable: ± (1 ft (0.3 m) + 2 % of reading) (0 ft to 328 ft), ± (1 ft (0.3 m) + 4 % of reading) (328 ft to 4000 ft). Display: Graphic bit-mapped LCD with backlight and adjustable contrast.

Crest Factor
Crest factor or peak-to-average ratio (PAR) is a measurement of a waveform, calculated from the peak amplitude of the waveform divided by the RMS value of the waveform

Linearity
Linearity is the relative difference between the displayed power ratio, Dx/D0, and the actual (true) power ratio Px/P0 caused by changing the displayed power level from the reference level, D0, to an arbitrary displayed level, Dx.

Phase Noise
Phase noise is the frequency domain representation of rapid, short-term, random fluctuations in the phase of a waveform, caused by time domain instabilities. Phase noise (L(f)) is typically expressed in units of dBc/Hz, representing the noise power relative to the carrier contained in a 1 Hz bandwidth centered at a certain offsets from the carrier.

Sensitivity
Sensitivity is the minimum magnitude of input signal required to produce a specified output signal having a specified signal-to-noise ratio, or other specified criteria.
