Keysight (Agilent) 37717A PDH/SDH/ATM Test Set Mainframe

The HP 37717A transmission tester provides modular upgradeable solutions for field maintenance, installation, and commission of PDH, SDH, and ATM networks it includes jitter generation and measurements. Measurements: Error analysis to G.821, G.826 and M2100 (M550), based on bit errors and code errors (FAS, CRC4, BIP, REBE); frequency offset, jitter. Interfaces; UPDH: 0.7, 2, 8, 34, and 140 Mb/s to G.703. SPDH: 2, 8, 34, and 140 Mb/s to G.703. SDH: STM-1E, STM-l optical (1310 nm or 1550 nm) and STM-4 optical (1310 nm or 1550 nm). Multiple outputs: 3 additional PDH outputs. PDH Alarms: AIS, signal loss, pattern loss, errors, frame loss, CAS/CRC multiframe loss, remote alarm, and remote multiframe alarm. SDH Alarms: MS AIS, Path AIS, MS FERF, Path FERF, TU Loss of Pointer, TU Path AIS, TU Path FERF. SDH Payload Mapping: 2 Mb/s (TU-12), 34 Mb/s (TU-3), and 140 Mb/s as G.709. ATM User Cell Generation; Header values: Cell format, GFC, VPI, VCI, PTI, CLP. Error add: Cell header or payload. ATM OAM Cell Generation: Fault management: F4, F5, OAM cell flow, alarm AIS, and FERF. ATM Cell Receive; Cell selection: UNI/NNI, GFC, VPI, VCI, PTI, CLP. Alarms selection: VP and VC AIS and FERF, loss of pattern payload, cells. ATM Cell Analysis; OOS measurements: Mean cell rate, BIP-8, cell, and HEC errors, cell misinsertion , loss and transfer delay. ISM: Mean cell rate, BIP-8, HEC, and non-conforming cells. Jitter: Generation and measurement at 2, 8, 34, and 140 Mb/s; 155 and 622 Mb/s (0.171) plus 2 Mb/s wander and estimated frame slip measurements

Optical Time Domain Reflectometer (OTDR) is a device for characterizing a fiber wherein an optical pulse is transmitted through the fiber and the resulting backscatter and reflections to the input are measured as a function of time. Useful in estimating attenuation coefficient as a function of distance and identifying defects and other localized losses.
