ILX LIGHTWAVE FMH-8715   Description / Specification:
ILX LIGHTWAVE FMH-8715 800 to 1650 nm InGaAs Optical Power Measurement Head

The FMH-8715 Fiber Optic Measurement Head is an integrating sphere based measurement head compatible with the FPM-8220 Fiber Optic Power Meter. The FMH-8715 is designed to measure optical power from -70 dBm to +20 dBm over a wavelength range of 800-1650nm. Interchangeable fiber optic adapters allow the FMH-8715 Fiber Optic Measurement Head to be compatible with a wide range of connectors including FC, SC, LC, bare FC ferrule, and bare fiber. Careful attention to the design allows the FMH-8715 Fiber Optic Measurement Head to achieve a polarization dependent response of less than ±0.006 dB.

Specifications:
Wavelength Range: 800 to 1650 nm

Chirp
A change in the optical frequency caused by direct modulation of the laser. A chirp is a signal in which the frequency increases ('up-chirp') or decreases ('down-chirp') with time. In some sources, the term chirp is used interchangeably with sweep signal.

Isolation
The extent to which optical power from one signal path is prevented from reaching another signal path.

Polarization Extinction Ratio
Polarization Extinction Ratio is the ratio of optical power in the slow axis of the polarization maintaining fiber to optical power in the fast axis within a specified wavelength range.

Sidemode Suppression Ratio
Sidemode Suppression Ratio is the ratio of average signal power to the optical power of the highest sidemode within a distance from 0.1 to 6 GHz to the signal’s optical frequency, expressed in dB.

Wavelength Stability
Wavelength Stability is the change of wavelength during given time span, expressed as ± half the span between the maximum and the minimum of all actual wavelengths.
