Keysight (Agilent) 5301A Frequency Counter Module

The HP 5301A is a Frequency Counter Module that offers you a portable precision frequency counter which will measure frequencies from 10Hz to 10MHz and time intervals with 100 ns resolution. The 5301A also has autoranging. Autoranging enhances ease of operation by automatically selecting the correct gate time to fill the display. Any frequency within range of the 5301A may be applied and the counter will select the correct gate time up to 1 sec for maximum resolution without exceeding the display range. The 5301A is a Snap-together Modular Counter for Versatility and Non Obsolescence. 6-digit solid state LED display (gallium arsenide phosphide light-emitting diodes) including decimal point and annunciator units. LED light indicates when display range is exceeded.

Linearity
Linearity is the relative difference between the displayed power ratio, Dx/D0, and the actual (true) power ratio Px/P0 caused by changing the displayed power level from the reference level, D0, to an arbitrary displayed level, Dx.

Phase Noise
Phase noise is the frequency domain representation of rapid, short-term, random fluctuations in the phase of a waveform, caused by time domain instabilities. Phase noise (L(f)) is typically expressed in units of dBc/Hz, representing the noise power relative to the carrier contained in a 1 Hz bandwidth centered at a certain offsets from the carrier.

Sensitivity
Sensitivity is the minimum magnitude of input signal required to produce a specified output signal having a specified signal-to-noise ratio, or other specified criteria.
