Keysight (Agilent) 83487A   Description / Specification:
Keysight (Agilent) 83487A 20 GHz Electrical/2.5 GHz Optical MM Plug-In Module

The Agilent 83487A is an Optical/electrical plug-in module for 83480A and 86100A digital communications analyzer, incorporates a 2.85 GHz optical measurement channel and a 20 GHz electrical channel. The electrical channel has two selectable bandwidth settings. In the lower bandwidth mode of 12.4 GHz, oscilloscope noise performance is excellent, while the 20 GHz mode allows greater fidelity for high speed signals. The calibrated, integrated optical channel has over 2.85 GHz bandwidth, and allows easy, precise measurements of single-mode or multimode optical signals. In addition, the User Cal feature provides for consistent accuracy at any wavelength between 750 nm and 860 nm using a source and power meter. it is a calibrated reference receiver that is measured to conform to specifications for Fibre Channel (FC) 1063 and Gigabit Ethernet for transmitter compliance testing.

Available Gain
Available Gain is the ratio, at a specific frequency, of power available from the output to the power in from the source.

Decibel (dB)
A unit of measurement of power which indicates relative power. A -10 dB means a reduction in power by 10 times, -20 dB means another 10 times or 100 times overall, -30 means another 10 times or 1000 times overall and so on.

Mismatch Uncertainty
Mismatch Uncertainty is caused by re-reflections between one device (the source) and the device that follows it (the load).

Pulse Power
Pulse Power, the energy transfer rate is averaged over the pulse width. Pulse width is considered to be the time between the 50 percent risetime/falltime amplitude points. Pulse power averages out any aberrations in the pulse envelope such as overshoot or ringing.
