Keysight (Agilent) 8447A Preamplifier

The HP 8447A Preamp's performance qualifies it for a number of Synthesized RF Signal Generator uses: to improve the sensitivity of counters, spectrum analyzers, RF voltmeters. EMI meters, power meters and other devices without distortion or degradation of amplitude accuracy: to increase the maximum power avail able from a signal generator or sweeper. Specifications. Frequency Range: 0.1 - 400 MHz. Typical 3 dB Bandwidth: 50 kHz - 700 MHz. Gain (Mean): 20 dB ±0.5 dB at 10 MHz. Gain Flatness Across Full Frequency Range: ±0.5 dB. Noise Figure: <5 dB. Output Power for 1 dB Gain Compression: >+7dBm. Harmonic Distortion: -35 dB for 0 dBm output. Typical Output for < -60 dB Harmonic Distortion: -25 dBm. VSWR: < 1.7. Impedance: 50 ohm. Reverse Isolation: > 30 dB. Maximum DC Voltage Input: ±10 V. Options. Two dual channel versions (Option 001-BNC connectors) which operate with dual channel systems such as oscilloscopes or network analyzers (or the channels may be cascaded for increased gain)

Available Gain
Available Gain is the ratio, at a specific frequency, of power available from the output to the power in from the source.

Frequency Span
Frequency Span specifies the range between the start and stop frequencies, also referred to as bandwidth

Peak Envelope Power
Peak envelope power is the maximum value of the envelope power. Envelope power is measured by making the averaging time much less than 1/fm where fm is the maximum frequency component of the modulation waveform. The averaging time is therefore limited on both ends: (1) it must be small compared to the period of the highest modulation frequency, and (2) it must be large enough to be many RF cycles long.
