Keysight (Agilent) 8644B   Description / Specification:
Keysight (Agilent) 8644B 1030 /2060 MHz Synthesized Signal Generator

The HP 8644B Signal Generator builds on the HP 8643A’s performance by lowering SSB phase noise(–136 dBc/Hz versus –130 dBc/Hz) and lowering spurious(–105 dBc versus –100 dBc). The HP 8644B can be used either for specific tests that require the lowest SSB phase noise or for applications with diversified performance requirements. FM rates of up to 2 MHz and deviations to 20 MHz peak are suitable for many applications such as higher-rate digital communications. An optional pulse modulator with on/off ratio of > 80 dB and rise/fall times of < 5 ns is available. Pulse width and delay can be internally adjusted between 50 ns and 999 ms, eliminating the need for an external pulse generator. Specifications. Frequency Range: 0.252 to 1030 MHz, (0.252 to 2060 MHz Option 002). Frequency Resolution: 0.01 Hz. Frequency Stability: 3 x 10^–10/day (Option 001). Spectral Purity SSB phase noise @ 1 GHz (20 kHz offset): –136 dBc/Hz. Spectral Purity Nonharmonics: (>10 kHz offset) < –105 dBc, 0.252 to 1030 MHz. Spectral Purity Harmonics: < –27 dBc, output <= +10 dBm. Output Level Range: +16 to –137 dBm, +13 dBm (Option 002, 005). Output Level Resolution: 0.1 dB. Output Level Absolute accuracy: ±1 dB, output >= –127 dBm. Amplitude Modulation Bandwidth (3 dB) <= +7 dBm: dc to >100 kHz, >128 MHz (Resolution: 1%). Frequency Modulation Bandwidth (3 dB): dc to 100 kHz (Resolution: 2.5% of setting). Pulse Modulation On/off ratio: >50 dB; >80 dB, >1030 MHz (Rise/fall time, 10 to 90%: <100 ns). Internal Modulation Source Waveforms and rates: Sine; white Gaussian noise (0.1 Hz to 400 kHz); Triangle, sawtooth, square (0.1 Hz to 50 kHz). Frequency Sweep Digital sweep: Digitally stepped sweep over entire frequency range. Linear/log selection. 0.5 to 1000 s sweeps. Options. 001 High-Stability Timebase. 002 2 GHz Doubled Output. 003 Rear-Panel Input/Output. 004 Low-noise Option. 005 Electronic Attenuator (N/A with Option 002). 008 Pulse Modulation. 009 Specified VOR/ILS. 010 Reduced-Leakage Configuration. 011 2 GHz Internal Frequency Counter.

dBm
dBm (sometimes dBmW) is an abbreviation for the power ratio in decibels (dB) of the measured power referenced to one milliwatt (mW). Zero dBm equals one milliwatt. A 3 dB increase represents roughly doubling the power, a 3 dB decrease, the power is reduced by about one half.

Millimeter-wave
Millimeter-wave is a term that generally refers to frequencies of 26.5 GHz and above. That is where signal wavelengths fall below approximately 10 mm, and thus the terminology changes from centimeters to millimeters.

Power Repeatability
Power Repeatability is the random uncertainty in reproducing the power level after changing and re-setting the power level. The power repeatability is ± half the span (in dB) between the highest and lowest actual power. Note: - The long-term power repeatability can be obtained by taken the power repeatability and power stability into account.

Stability
Stability is the extent to which a specified property, characteristic, or parameter of a substance, device, or apparatus, remains fixed with the passage of time or with varying environmental conditions.
