Keysight (Agilent) 8656A   Description / Specification:
Keysight (Agilent) 8656A 990 MHz RF Signal Generator

The HP 8656A programmable RF signal generator provides synthesized signals from 0.1 to 990 MHz. The 8656A offers a wide range of standard features, including 100 and 250 Hz resolution, full keyboard control, reverse power protection to 50W, and HP-IB programmability. Featuring AM and FM and simultaneous modulation with external modulating signals or internal 400 Hz and 1 kHz tones, the 8656A is ideal for in-channel receiver testing. Receiver channels are easily selected with the frequency increment feature. It has output level accuracy of ± 1.5 dB and precise output level resolution of 0.1 dB for increased measurement accuracy and settability. Specifications. Frequency Range: 100 kHz to 990 MHz (8 digit LED display). Frequency Resolution: 100 and 250 Hz. Spurious signals (<= +7 dBm output levels). Harmonics: < -25 dBc. Output Level range (Into 50 ohms): + 13 dBm to -127 dBm (3 1/2 digit LED display). Output Resolution: 0.1 dB. Output Absolute level accuracy: <=1.5 dB. Level flatness (100 kHz to 990 MHz): <= ± 1.0 dB at an output level setting of 0.0 dBm. Amplitude modulation depth: 0 to 99% to +7 dBm and 0 to 30% to + 10 dBm. AM Resolution: 1%. FM rate: internal 400 Hz and 1 kH z, ± 3%; external (1 dB bandwidth, ac coupled), 25 Hz to 25 kHz. FM Resolution: 100 Hz for deviations less than 10 kHz; 1 kHz for deviations greater than 10kHz. Option 001: High stability time base. Option 002: Rear panel input and output.

Crest Factor
Crest factor or peak-to-average ratio (PAR) is a measurement of a waveform, calculated from the peak amplitude of the waveform divided by the RMS value of the waveform

Linearity
Linearity is the relative difference between the displayed power ratio, Dx/D0, and the actual (true) power ratio Px/P0 caused by changing the displayed power level from the reference level, D0, to an arbitrary displayed level, Dx.

Phase Noise
Phase noise is the frequency domain representation of rapid, short-term, random fluctuations in the phase of a waveform, caused by time domain instabilities. Phase noise (L(f)) is typically expressed in units of dBc/Hz, representing the noise power relative to the carrier contained in a 1 Hz bandwidth centered at a certain offsets from the carrier.

Sensitivity
Sensitivity is the minimum magnitude of input signal required to produce a specified output signal having a specified signal-to-noise ratio, or other specified criteria.
