FLUKE 1621 Basic Earth Ground Tester

The Fluke 1621 earth ground tester is used for detecting reliable ground connections, the unit features basic ground testing methods including 3-pole Fall-of-Potential as well as 2-pole ground resistance. Its convenient size, rugged holster, and large, clear LCD display make it an ideal field earth tester, for most work environments. Specifications. Measuring functions: 3-pole earth ground resistance, 2 pole ac resistance of a conductor, Interference voltage. Measuring rate: 2 measurements/second. Resistance Measuring method: Current-voltage measurement with improved cross-talk attenuation, no compensation of measuring lead resistance, with probe (3-pole) or without probe (2-pole), as per IEC/EN 61557-5. Resistance Measuring range: 0.15 ohm to 2 kohm. Resolution: 0.01 ohm to 1 ohm. Intrinsic uncertainty: ± (6 % of measured value + 5 d). Operating uncertainty: ± (18 % of measured value + 5 d). Measuring time: 8 seconds (average from when START is pressed).

Averaging
Averaging is a mathematical process to reduce the variation in a measurement by summing the data points from multiple measurements and dividing by the number of points summed.

Fall Time
Fall time is the time required for the amplitude of a pulse to decrease (fall) from a specified value (usually 90 percent of the peak value exclusive of overshoot or undershoot) to another specified value (usually 10 percent of the maximum value exclusive of overshoot or undershoot).

Noise Density
Noise Density is the amount of noise within a defined bandwidth, usually normalized to 1 Hz.

Resolution Bandwidth (RBW)
Resolution Bandwidth (RBW) is the minimum bandwidth over which you can separate two signals and still see them.
