The JDSU MAPL+11B MAP Single Distributed Feedback (DFB) Laser Cassette series is an excellent source for DWDM system testing.The DFB laser emits an extremely narrow range of wavelengths.A combination of DFB lasers may be used to create an ITU grid in which optical frequency represented by a DFB laser corresponds to the transmitter in the optical network. The standard MAP DFB laser can be selected to comply with the 100 GHz (0.8 nm) ITU grid in the C and L-band (1527-1610 nm) wavelength range.The lasers typically show a side-mode suppression ratio of 40 dB and can be modulated internally from 0.2 to 300 kHz in square, sinusoidal, and triangular waves. The DFB laser cassettes with the 'Flex Mux' option enable users to link as many cassettes as needed for testing. This option reduces the cost of buying larger numbers of external multiplexers that are limited to certain wavelengths. It also provides amplified spontaneous emission (ASE) suppression. This feature increases the dynamic range of the DFB laser cassette, a useful attribute optical filter characterization. Key Features. 1.5 nm of wavelength tuning range. 10 or 20 mW output. 200 Hz to 300 kHz modulation. Synchronization between MAP modules provided by chassis or via external modulator. 100 GHz ITU spacing (50 GHz optional). Flex Mux, monitor (1 %) and beam block options. SM and PM fiber output available.
