General description of the used AGILENT 8657B for sale.
The HP 8657B is an L-Band synthesized signal generator ideal for radio reciever and radar system and subsystem design and testing. It covers a frequency range of 100 kHz to 2060 MHz, with underrange to 10 kHz and a frequency resolution of 1 Hz. Frequency switching time to be withing 100 Hz of the target frequency is <135 ms. Frequency accuracy and stability is completely dependant on the internal timebase characteristics. Additionaly, phase offset is adjustable in 1 degree increments. The internal timebase aging rate is +/-2 ppm/year, with a timebase reference signal available at >0.15 Vrms into 50 ohm at 10, 5, or 1 MHz (internally selectable). If an external reference is used, the output will be the same frequency. The rear-panel external reference input accepts any 10, 5, or 1 MHz (+/-0.002%) frequency standard at a level >0.15 Vrms into 50 ohms. The Agilent 8657B has low spectral noise and residual FM. At output levels <=+7 dBm, harmonics are at <-30 dBc at frequencies from 0.1 to 1030 MHz, and at <-25 dBc from 1030 to 2060 MHz. Nonharmonic spurious signals with a carrier offset >5 kHz for all carrier frequencies are at an average level of <-65 dBc, and at an average level of <-59 dBc for carrier offsets of >2 MHz. Residual FM in CW mode, in a post detection bandwidth of 0.3 to 3 kHz is at an average of <3 Hzrms acoss all frequencies. In a post detection BW of 0.05 to 15 kHz, residual FM is at alevel of <6 Hz rms for frequencies from 0.1 to 130 MHz, <1.5 Hz rms for frequencies from 130 to 260 MHz, <3 Hz rms for frequencies from 260 to 520 MHz, <4 Hz for frequencies from 520 to 1030 MHz, and <8 Hz rms for freuencies from 1030 to 2060 MHz. Residual AM is <0.04% AM in a 50 Hz to 15 kHz in CW mode. SSB phase noise in CW mode and with a 20 kHz offset at frequencies from 0.1 to 130 MHz is typicaly <-130 dBc/Hz, <-140 dBc/Hz for frequencies from 130 to 260 MHz, <-136 dBc/Hz for frequencies from 260 to 520 MHz, <-130 dBc/Hz for frequencies from 520 to 1030 MHz, <-123 dBc/Hz for frequencies from 1030 to 2060 MHz. The output power level ranges from +13 dBm to -143.5 dBm into 50 ohm, with a resolution of 0.1 dB. The absolute level accuracy for levels from +3.5 to -127 dBm is <+/-1.0 dB, and <+/-1.5 dB for levels greater than 3.5 dBm. Level flatness across a frequency range of 100 kHz to 2060 MHz is <+/-0.5 dB at an output level setting of 0 dBm. SWR is <1.5 for levels <=-6.5 dBm and <2.0 for levels <=+13 dBm. Reverse power protection is 50W and 25 Vdc from a 50 ohm source. Attenuator repeatability is 0.01 dB. Output level overrange reaches +17 dBm. Amplitude modulation depth can range from 0 to 100% for output levels <= +7 dBm, and 0 to 30% for levels <= +10 dBm. Amplitude modulation resolution is 1%. Internal AM rate can be 400 Hz and 1 kHz, +/-2%. The external AM rate can range from 20 Hz to 40 kHz (1 dB), or 20 Hz to 100 kHz (3 dB typical). AM indicator accuracy for depths <90% for 400 Hz and 1 kHz rates and levels <=+7 dBm is +/-(6% of setting +2%). Peak incidental phase modulation at 30% AM depth and internal rates is <0.3 radians. Frequency modulation maximum peak deviation in ac mode at a center frequency from 0.1 to 130 MHz is 200 kHz, 50 kHz at a CF of 130 to 260 MHz, 100 kHz at a CF of 260 to 520 MHz, 200 kHz at a CF of 520 to 1030 MHz, and 400 kHz at a CF of 1030 to 2060 MHz. The FM setting resolution at deviations of lessthan 100 kHz and a carrier frequency of <1030 MHz is 100 Hz, and 200 Hz for a carrier frequency greater than 1030 MHz. At deviations >100 kHz, the FM setting resolution is 1 kHz at carrier frequencies less than 1030 MHz, and 2 kHz at frequencies >1030 MHz. The internal FM rate can be 400 Hz or 1 kHz, +/-2%. External FM rate ranges from (dc) 5 Hz to 100 kHz in a 3 dB BW, and (dc) 20 Hz to 50 kHz in a 1 dB BW. Center frequency stability in dc mode is <10 Hz per hour drift. FM distortion at internal frequencies and peak deviations >=6 kHz is <0.5% THD plus noise. Indicator accuracy at internal rates is <+/-5% of setting.
