Keysight (Agilent) 83496B Clock Recovery Module with Phase Noise Analysis

The Agilent 83496B Clock Recovery Module with Phase Noise Analysis provides increased eye-mask and jitter measurement accuracy with breakthrough performance in clock recovery circuitry. It provides ideal performance for waveform analysis with the 86100 Digital Communications Analyzer and can derive a clock from signals with rates as low as 50 Mb/s-14.2 GB/s, and any rate in between. At under 300 femtoseconds rms, the residual jitter of the output clock is virtually negligible, allowing accurate measurements of very low levels of signal jitter. Specifications. Operating range: 50 Mb/s to 7.1 Gb/s(with Option 200: 50 Mb/s to 14.2 Gb/s). Residual jitter (jitter free input): < 300 fs rms. Loop BW: 270 kHz or 1.5 MHz (with Option 300: 15 kHz to 10 MHz or fixed ratio of data rate/N). Wavelength range: 780 to 1330 nm MMF (62.5 um), Option 101 1250 to 1620 nm SMF (9 um). Options. Option 100: Electrical differential or single-ended clock recovery 50 Mb/s to 7.1 Gb/s. Option 101: Optical single mode 1250 to 1620 nm and multimode 780 to 1330 nm clock recovery 50 Mb/s to 7.1 Gb/s. Option 200: Increase operating range to 14.2 Gb/s. Option 201: Operating range of either Option 100 or Option 101 is set to be 7.1 to 14.2 Gb/s. Option 300: Add Golden PLL (tunable loop bandwidth capability).

Pricing does include NIST traceable calibration and issue of a calibration certificate and calibration label. Pricing may vary slightly due to volume and location of laboratory supporting calibration. Volume pricing may apply. On-site fees may apply depending on logistics, location and volume of work to be completed during the visit.

Related Optical Terms and Definitions. For a complete list go to our  Terms and Definitions Page.

Absolute Wavelength Accuracy
Absolute Wavelength Accuracy is the maximum difference between the actual wavelength and the displayed wavelength of the Optical Source. Wavelength is defined as wavelength in vacuum.

Decibel (dB)
A unit of measurement of optical power which indicates relative power. A -10 dB means a reduction in power by 10 times, -20 dB means another 10 times or 100 times overall, -30 means another 10 times or 1000 times overall and so on.

Nanometer (nm)
A unit of measure used to measure wavelength of light, meaning one one-billionth of a meter

Relative Intensity Noise (RIN)
Relative intensity noise (RIN), describes the instability in the power level of a laser. The noise term is important to describe lasers used in fiber-optic communication and LIDAR remote sensing. It is the square of the (spectrally resolved) RMS optical power amplitude divided by the measurement bandwidth and the square of the average optical power, expressed in dB/Hz.

Total Return loss
In an optical fiber, the loss that takes place at any discontinuity of refractive index, especially at an air-glass interface such as a fiber endface, at which a fraction of the optical signal is reflected back toward the source. RL = - 10log10 (Preflected/Preference)
